THIRUVANANATHAPURAM: Award-winning director Sanalkumar Sasidharan alleged mystery in vlogger Junaid’s accident death.
SANALKUMAR SASIDHARAN:
“This death reeks of mystery. Junaid was taken into custody a few days back on rape allegations. A hate campaign soon sprouted against him on social media. Assessing it, I felt the vilifying comments against him were a tad more ferocious than in a normal case.
I also saw a YouTube video where Junaid denied the allegations against him. The video was not complete, as it was heavily edited, keeping some details shrouded. I rummaged through many news channels but none mentioned his official name. Every news portal gleamed ‘Vlogger Junaid’ as the youngster’s official name.
Junaid will not be able to prove his innocence in the case anymore. The death comes at a time when the public sphere was castigating him based on mere allegations. We still don’t have enough evidence to believe this as an accident death.
Anyways, those people who vilified him without waiting to hear his side of the story will be content with the death news. Now, they can jump on into their next prey. “
The incident occurred when his motorcycle crashed into a sand mound at the Marathani bend in Karakkunnu, Manjeri, causing him to lose control and fall. The accident occurred at around 5:20 pm on Friday. Bus workers were the first to spot Junaid, who was lying on the roadside in a pool of blood. He sustained injuries to the back of his head. Although Junaid was rushed to the Manjeri Medical College Hospital, his life could not be saved. Junaid was on his way from Manjeri towards Vazhikkadavu.
On March 1, Junaid was arrested by the Malappuram police in a case where he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman he had met through Instagram, after promising to marry her.
