THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Senior CPI leader KE Ismail has been reportedly suspended. He has been suspended from the CPI state executive. Reports say that he has been suspended for six months.

Meanwhile, KE Ismail clarified that he has not received an official notification from the party regarding the action and that it is not right to say anything more now. Ismail added that even if action is taken, he will continue in the party.

'I came across news about me on the channels. This started in 1955. It has been seventy years. I am still a communist; I will be a communist until I die. I'm not saying anything more now,' he said.

KE Ismail's response following the death of former MLA and Ernakulam district secretary P Raju was controversial. Following Raju's death, his family came out against the party. Later, Ismail also came out and blamed the party. Ismail's allegation was that Raju was personally attacked over non-existent issues. Ismail, a former member of the national executive, is now an invitee of the Palakkad District Council.
