KOLLAM: A team of policemen which had set out in search of a CI, who is accused of trying to kill a woman whom he had raped earlier, reached Kollam from Thrissur, on Sunday.

It was Pazhayannur police from Thrissur-Palakkad district border that reached the CI’s Kottiyam house. The CI is accused of attempt to kill the woman by ramming his vehicle into her. In the case filed, in this regard, by Pazhayannur police, attempt-to-murder charges has been invoked against the SI.

Though the police searched the house of CI at Umayanallur in Kottiyam with the help of local police, they could not find any trace of him.

The CI is already facing investigation in Palakkad district under IPC 376 (rape). He allegedly made the attempt to kill the woman as attempts were going on to settle the case by involving higher officials in the case.

The CI, who had been under suspension for about six months in the rape case, re-joined the service only recently.

Meanwhile, the police have got the information that the CI has been keeping away from his Kottiyam house for quite some time now.

There is also information that the woman was called to a secret centre for a compromise talk by an officer under SP rank and the accident occurred when she was returning home after talks that probably might have failed.
