'Just six days after marriage..'; Tearful adieu to Navy officer Vinay Narwal

KARNAL: Just six days back, Himanshi was having her best day in her life. Today, the same young woman from Haryana was inconsolable after she collapsed near her husband’s coffin, draped with the Indian tricolour.

Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, commissioned in the Indian Navy just two years ago, was killed along with the 25 others in Pahalgam the other day. Vinay and Himanshi had married just six days back in a joyous ceremony. The couple were on their honeymoon in Kashmir when the horror got unleashed in the meadow, often dubbed as heaven on earth.

Vinay was having street food, Bhel puri, in the valley when the terrorist shot him dead at point-blank range.

“I hope he will have the best life wherever he is. It is only because of people like him that we are still here alive,” added Himanshi after paying her last respect to slain Vinay.

The mortal remains of 26-year-old Vinay will be brought to his hometown in Karnal today, and his final rites will be performed tomorrow.
