THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Gold price hits an all-time record in the state again. The price of a sovereign of gold today is Rs 75,760 after an increase of Rs 560. After a rise of Rs 70 per gram, the price is Rs 9,470. This is the highest gold rate recorded this month. There was an increase of Rs 800 for a sovereign in the last three days. The lowest gold rate of this month was recorded on August 1. The price then was Rs 73,200 and gram was Rs 9,150.
The gold price in India is soaring as part of US President Donald Trump's tariff policy. In the international market, the price of gold is $3,378 per ounce and the exchange rate of rupee is 87.70. Presently, if you want to buy a sovereign of gold at the lowest labor cost, you have to pay Rs 81,500. All Kerala Gold and Silver Merchants Association General Secretary advocate S Abdul Nassar said that the surge in gold prices during Onam and wedding seasons is worrying consumers and traders.
Meantime, there is no change in the price of silver in the state today. It is priced at Rs 127 per gram and Rs 1,27,000 per kilogram. The price of silver in Kerala is determined according to the international market. The fluctuations in the value of the rupee compared to the dollar will also affect the price of silver.
