THRISSUR: More information has emerged in connection with the allegations of fake voting in Thrissur in the last Lok Sabha elections. Prasanna of Thrissur and a resident of the flat Capital Village, has released the information. She alleged that nine fake votes were cast in her address.
‘The votes were included after taking my rent agreement. No action was taken even after a complaint was filed with the district collector after voting. Some cast votes and some in names of Ajaya Kumar, Ayyappan, Santosh Kumar S and Sajith Babu. I’ve been living here for the last four years,' Prasanna told media. Public activists in Poonkunnam said they grew suspicious when reached the flat to give the voter’s slip.
CPI leader VS Sunil Kumar responded that the Election Commission's claim that the complaints in Thrissur had been resolved is wrong. BJP leader K R Shaji of Chelakkara and his wife voted in Thrissur in the parliamentary elections. A flat in Thrissur was given as their address at that time. In the local body elections, they voted in Nadathara in Varavoor. They even changed their voter ID card to vote in Thrissur. Sunil Kumar told media that he had filed a complaint with the Election Commission pointing this out.
The UDF and the LDF had the other day levelled allegations that the BJP had artificially added thousands of votes for the victory of Suresh Gopi. They have produced evidence and arguments related to this. The party is accused of concentrating its efforts in the city's flats and mobilizing voters from other constituencies to achieve victory. There are also allegations that the complaints received by former collector and returning officer Krishna Teja were not forwarded to the higher authorities.
