Vehicle inspection in Malappuram ahead of Onam: Police with shocking catch from scooter; Muhammed Muneer arrested for transporting 'bananas'

MALAPPURAM: Police have seized one crore rupees from a scooter, which was being smuggled in a sack. The incident took place in Vengara, Malappuram. Koduvally native Muhammed Muneer (39) was arrested. He was caught during a vehicle inspection near the Vengara Kooriyad underpass.

The money was packed like a banana cluster along with banana leaves in the sack to avoid suspicion. The sack was placed in front of the scooter. When the police became suspicious and checked, they found more than one crore rupees. There was also money under the seat of the scooter. Bundles of Rs 500 and Rs 200 currency notes were found mostly.

The police stated that the money was intended for distribution in Vengara. Further investigation is underway into the source of the money. Vehicle checks are being conducted in many places in Malappuram district in connection with Onam. Around Rs. 10 crore worth of illegal money was seized in various cases in the district recently.
