BENGALURU: A dowry harassment case has been registered against renowned Kannada director S. Narayan following a complaint filed by his daughter-in-law, Pavithra. In her complaint, Pavithra alleged that she was brutally tortured and thrown out of the house by her husband Pavan and his parents for failing to provide the money they demanded.

S Narayan is one of the most famous directors in Kannada. The complaint was lodged at the Bengaluru Jnanabharathi police station. Pavithra stated that Narayan and his son Pavan assaulted her over dowry and frequently demanded money to start a film institute. Her parents had once given Narayan some money for this purpose, but it was never repaid, she said.

Pavithra also added in the complaint that if anything happened to her, Narayan, his wife, and his son Pavan should be held responsible. The Jnanabharathi police registered the case on Wednesday evening and further action is underway.
