KOTTAYAM: The Nair Service Society (NSS) came down heavily on the union and state governments. Sabarimala is the reason for the organisation’s ‘right distance’ stand, said its general secretary G Sukumaran Nair. The government of Kerala took a stand against the devotees and both the central and the state governments are against them, he added. NSS reiterated its stance only when days are left for the by-polls in the state.
NSS said the statement of Kodiyeri Balakrishnan that virtues were brought in by the government for the benefit of the upper castes is misleading. Nair had the other day clarified that the present government had not done anything for the forward communities. Even the 10% reservation announced by the centre is deliberately blocked. The right distance stand of the NSS is for the good of the state and that there is no concern or claim in the stand, he had mentioned in a statement released.
Meantime, by-election politics is a curious turning point in the NSS's move to openly campaign for the UDF taking Vattiyoorkkavu and Konni proudly. With the public stance of the NSS, discussions have shifted to the extent of the reflection of communal politics in the by-election. Though SNDP yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan had announced that he has the same stand towards all three fronts, all eyes are on their support. The LDF expect the same support given to them at Pala.
