KOCHI: Eldhose Kunnappilly MLA said that he will contest as an independent in Perumbavoor if he is not given a seat. He is sitting MLA of the Congress and expected the party to consider him. If not considered, his decision is to contest as an independent. The party should not show injustice, Eldhose said. He was speaking to the media after returning from Delhi.
‘I have a place in the hearts of the people of Perumbavoor for the last 10 years. They also have a place in my heart. I went to Delhi and informed the central leadership about this. There are many possibilities for me to win in Perumbavoor. I have told them that it should not be lost. I cannot confirm it now, but I am being considered. I started campaigning a year ago.
There are chances for my name to be included in the candidates list. There is no scope for Twenty20 in Perumbavoor. There is very little possibility for them to win. Even if not given a seat, I will be with the Congress. Whatever responsibility the party gives me, I will do it well. The center has spoken to me very positively. The party will decide on my candidature,' Eldhose Kunnappilly had responded earlier.
It is reported that DCC President Mohammed Shiyas is being considered in Perumbavoor instead of Eldhose. Apart from this, the names of Ullas Thomas, Manoj Moothedam and others are also emerging. It is reported that Eldhose was not given a seat because there is a sexual harassment case against him. The high command is of the view that since the case against Kunnappilly is coming up on the 26th, he cannot be allowed to contest.
