Sought guidance from ChatGPT on how to eliminate family; Teen of Indian origin murders mother, brother in US

WASHINGTON: A 17-year-old teen has been arrested for murdering his mother and younger brother at Massachusetts in the US. The arrested is an Indian origin identified as Arjun Aravind. The murder was committed on Tuesday at their home in Martha Lane, Acton. The dead are Sudha Venkatesan (45) and Siddharth Aravind (14).

The 17-year-old's father informed the police at around 6.30 pm on Tuesday after he was unable to contact his family. He last spoke to his wife before going to work on Tuesday morning. Siddharth was last seen around 12 noon.


On being informed, the police conducted an inspection and found the bodies of the two at home. Siddharth was found on the first floor and Sudha in the basement. Police say that both had serious injuries on their bodies. A detailed medical report regarding the death has not been released. It is also unclear what type of weapon was used for the murder.


The 17-year-old, who fled with Sudha's car after the murder, was arrested on Wednesday morning. Police found that he had been searching for ways to kill his family members on ChatGPT. Police investigation also found that he had recently showed concerning behavior.


It was initially decided to present the arrested in the juvenile court. However, since juvenile court does not have jurisdiction over murder cases, the defendant will face arraignment in Concord District Court.
