ROME: As Italy is witnessing a huge outbreak of the novel coronavirus, several Malayalees including pregnant women and children are left stranded at the Fiumicino airport after authorities denied them permission to board flights to India. According to sources, the permission was denied after the Civil Aviation Ministry issued an advisory stating that the passengers should present valid certificates that prove that they tested negative for coronavirus.

Following this, Chief Minister Pinaryi Vijayan has written a letter to the Prime Minister seeking immediate action to speed up the medical check-up in order to bring the group to India.

The Malayalees were on their way back to India after Italy reported a massive increase in the number of coronavirus cases in the country. In a video that is going viral on social media, a woman can be seen stating that they are ready to undergo any number of medical checkups once they are brought back to Kerala.
