ERNAKULAM: The CPI(M) on Monday expelled VA Zakir Hussain from the post of its Ernakulam district committee area secretary. He has also been expelled from the Ernakulam district committee.
The action was taken on the basis of a report submitted by a probe committee that investigated various accusations against the leader. The commission stated that Hussain had accumulated illegal assets and had brought a luxury house. Hussain was earlier accused of kidnapping an industrialist and playing a crucial role in the suicide of a CPM leader.
The two-member probe committee was constituted by the party after it received a complaint against Hussain from a party leader. It was the district committee that expelled Zakir Hussain from the post of area secretary.
