THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretary A Vijayaraghavan said the democratic model was to allay concerns by pointing out limitations. He said this while responding to state government's action of withdrawing the controversial police law amendment. Vijayaraghavan said the chief minister clarified the matter in the wake of the well-intentioned suggestions raised in the amendment of the Police Act. Asked whether the CPM had discussed the act earlier, he said the question was of logical significance.
He said the decentralization plan in the state was shaped and supported by the Left governments and accused the Centre of violating the federal principles of the Constitution. The UDF stands with it. The Right Front has aligned with the BJP. They are even moving against the chief minister using power. The Left Front is defending against this. There is possibility for a second term in office Local body elections are being held in the state in such an occasion, he said.
