Transgender who contested local body polls commits suicide

KANNUR: A transgender who contested the local body polls as an independent candidate committed suicide by setting herself ablaze. She has been identified as Sneha of Samajwadi Colony. The incident happened last evening. Her body is kept at the mortuary of Pariyaram Medical College.

Sneha was a native of Thottada. Eyewitnesses said she poured kerosene on her body from inside, then came out and set herself ablaze. Although she was rushed to Kannur Government Medial College, her life could not be saved. The police reached the colony and then at the hospital. Police said it is a case of suicide and things can be clarified only after a detailed investigation.
