THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A meeting of DCC presidents convened as part of the election review assessed that the UDF would win 80 seats and come to power in Kerala.
KPCC President Mullappally Ramachandran presided over the meeting at Indira Bhavan and assessed the chances of success in all districts. DCC presidents commented that the pro-UDF wave was evident everywhere.
Forgetting the differences of opinion, the UDF workers worked together for victory. Anti-government sentiment was evident in all constituencies. It was suggested at the meeting that the election tours of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi in Kerala will help the UDF secure a great victory.
The UDF was able to put up a remarkable performance in the southern districts including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta. The UDF waged a unique struggle in Nemom. The leaders opined that although the CPM had formed a coalition with the communal parties and widely traded votes there, it would not affect the victory of the UDF.
