Pregnant woman dies of Covid; baby saved through C-section

ALAPPUZHA: The baby of the pregnant woman who died of Covid was taken out through a caesarean. Priyanka (26), wife of Sreejith of Chengannur died while undergoing treatment at Thiruvalla Believers Hospital.

Priyanka, who was seven months pregnant, was admitted to a private hospital for fever. She was confirmed of the virus in a test conducted. She was shifted to Thiruvalla Believers Hospital for further treatment.

The hospital authorities decided to take the baby out through C-section as her condition deteriorated. Although the authorities saved the baby with the consent of the relatives, they could not save the life of Priyanka. The baby is in the intensive care unit of Vandanam Medical College Hospital.
