THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The distribution of dearness allowance arrears, which was supposed to start this week, has not started yet. The official explanation blames the technical failure of prism software. But, the employee unions don’t approve of this. Criticisms have been such that this is done with financial gain in mind.

The DA for this month was given along with salary and pension, however, the arrears are not yet cleared.

The state government had earlier said that the arrears would be given as money. The current outstanding arrears amount to Rs 1703 crores. DA increment was postponed in the name of financial crisis and floods.
