DGP for mandatory DNA testing in all mysterious deaths in state

anil-kant-

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: DGP Anil Kant said DNA tests are mandatory in all the mysterious deaths in the state. He has directed the investigation officers to conduct DNA tests in cases of murder, rape and unnatural death.

The directive of the state police chief is based on the letter issued by the head of crime branch stating that not conducting DNA tests in such cases will affect the investigation.

The evidence obtained from the crime spot should be first sent for DNA testing. The DGP also directed to hand over the sample to the scientific officers for keeping it safely. The earlier directive was that only the necessary samples obtained from the crime spot should be sent for DNA testing.
