'Rs five crores in four months, luxury apartment in Noida'; Thiruvananthapuram native Surya and friend Ajmal arrested

KOZHIKODE: Two more individuals were arrested in connection with the seizure of one kilogram of MDMA at Pantheerankavu. The investigation team apprehended C. Ajmal (32), a native of Nilambur in Malappuram, and P. Surya (23), a nursing student from Malayinkeezhu in Thiruvananthapuram, from a flat in Noida, Delhi. Police state that they are key figures in the drug trafficking network.

The police had seized one kilogram of MDMA on May 9 from a car parked on the service road near Capkon City in Pantheerankavu. Mohammed Arshalal (25), Adilsha (20), and Mohammed Farhan (22)—all natives of Malappuram—had previously been arrested in connection with the incident. Information regarding the smuggling of the drug from Delhi to Kerala, as well as the involvement of Ajmal and Surya, came to light during the interrogation of the previously arrested individuals.

Subsequently, following an investigation centred in Delhi, both individuals were taken into custody from a luxury flat in Noida registered in Surya's name. Police seized items including a digital scale for weighing narcotics, a packing sealer, over 5,000 zip-lock bags, a currency counting machine, and numerous ATM cards from the flat. The accused confessed to shipping more than ten kilograms of MDMA weekly to various states, including Kerala. They smuggled the drugs while transporting second-hand cars purchased in Delhi to Kerala. Over a period of four months, the accused conducted drug transactions worth more than five crore rupees. They were produced before the court and remanded to custody.
