KOCHI: Film Exhibitors United Organization of Kerala (FEUOK), decided not to show the future movies of producers, distributors, and stars if their movies go for OTT release within 42 days of its release in theaters. The FEUOK State President, K Vijaykumar said that this will be implemented strictly from 1st January.

He said that there are producers who give the movie for OTT release within 20 days of its release in theaters. This is to appease the OTT companies’ stipulation that they will accept the movie if it is shown in theaters for twenty days.

Vijaykumar said that FEUOK decided not to show the future movies of stars to prevent them from deciding to opt for OTT. This decision of the FEUOK will be informed to other cinema organizations such as AMMA, MACTA, FEFKA, Film Chamber, and to producers and distributors.

Discussions will be held to bring in a rule to go for OTT only after 56 days.

He added that the issue against showing Avatar 2 has been settled. The theater owners will get 55% of the revenue from the ticket in the first two weeks. After two weeks they will get 50% and after four weeks the theater owners will get 40% of the ticket revenue.

In addition, he said that the theater owners will not give the amount for the 3D and the advertisement costs.
