NEW DELHI: The Supreme court has stayed the High court order that banned the display of advertisements on KSRTC buses. The Supreme court has also sought the state government’s stance on the new scheme submitted by the KSRTC. The decision was taken by the Supreme court bench comprising of Justices Surya Kant and JK Maheshwari.

It is reported that the KSRTC has included several suggestions in the new scheme including avoiding of advertisements that causes distraction to drivers of other vehicles and pedestrians, a committee chaired by MD for inspection and approval of ads and also that the committee would ensure the display of ads as per MVD rules. It is also suggested that a new committee would be formed under the leadership of a retired judge to inspect the complaints against the advertisements.

The Supreme court has directed KSRTC to submit a new scheme while considering the KSRTC plea against the High court order that banned the display of advertisements. It was also directed to state which side of the bus that the advertisements should be displayed on. The High court order against the ban on the display of advertisements has caused a huge loss of income to KSRTC. The ads are displayed as per security guidelines. In the plea, it was suggested that the order was issued without proper study.
