NEW DELHI: A video featuring Anaya Bangar, daughter of former India cricketer Sanjay Bangar, has gone viral on social media after she revealed her choices in a ‘Kill, Marry, Hook Up’ game during an interview.
The game featured on Krishnank Atrey’s YouTube channel. Anaya was asked to choose among Indian cricketers Shreyas Iyer, Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill, picking Iyer for ‘kill’, Sharma for ‘marry’ and Gill for ‘hook up’. Her answers have since attracted attention on social media.
Anaya previously played age-group cricket for Mumbai, including at the Under-19 level. She underwent gender-affirming surgery in March 2026, completing a transition process that began in 2022.
She is now preparing to resume her cricket career in Australia. Cricket Australia confirmed in August 2026 that she was eligible to play community cricket, while her eligibility for elite women’s cricket would begin in March 2027, subject to continued compliance with the governing body’s requirements.
Under Cricket Australia’s policy, her eligibility for elite cricket is conditional on a blood test confirming that her serum testosterone concentration remains below 10 nmol/L, along with compliance with the other applicable requirements. The clearance does not guarantee selection for a team or a contract in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL).
In an interview published by Hindustan Times on October 14, Anaya said she was preparing to move to Australia to begin cricket training. She has also urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to consider an approach similar to Cricket Australia’s policy on transgender participation in women’s cricket.
