Harmanpreet’s India thump England in historic first-ever women’s Lord’s Test

LONDON: The Indian women's cricket team created history with a dominant 270-run victory over England in the first-ever women's Test match at Lord's. Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, India produced an all-round performance to register one of the most memorable wins in the team's history.

The match marked a historic milestone as Lord's hosted a women's Test for the first time in its 142-year history. Women first played cricket at the iconic venue in 1976, but that match was a One-Day International rather than a Test.

Chasing a challenging target of 457 runs, England were bowled out for 186 in their second innings. Scores: India 285 and 341/7 declared; England 170 and 186.

Amy Jones (54) and Sophie Ecclestone (50) were the only England batters to offer any resistance as the rest of the batting line-up struggled against India's disciplined bowling attack. Sneh Rana claimed four wickets, while Deepti Sharma, Kranti Goud and Sayali Satghare picked up two wickets each.

Kranti Goud was named Player of the Match after finishing with seven wickets in the contest. She took five wickets in England's first innings before adding two more in the second.

India's batters also made valuable contributions throughout the match. Yastika Bhatia scored a century in the second innings, while vice-captain Smriti Mandhana registered half-centuries in both innings. Harmanpreet Kaur and Deepti Sharma struck fifties in the first innings, while Richa Ghosh added another half-century in the second to help India seal a famous victory at the Home of Cricket.
