BRASILIA: In a ghastly incident, a 14-year-old boy died after injecting butterfly remains into his body. Davi Nunes Moreira, a Brazilian teen, injected butterfly remains into his body as part of a social media challenge and went through agonizing seven days in hospital before succumbing to death.

The boy confessed to the police that after mixing the butterfly remains with water, he injected it into his leg vein. It was concluded that the cause of death may be an allergy, infection or blockage of the blood artery.

The hospital authorities clarified that the death may have been due to the toxicity of the water mixed with the remains of the butterfly. As per doctors, Davi’s body went into a state called septic shock. Septic shock is an infection-related condition that causes organ failure and dangerously low blood pressure.

This is a life-threatening condition that requires immediate medical attention. Symptoms include low blood pressure, pale and cold limbs, tremors, difficulty breathing, and decreased urine output. Meanwhile, the police are waiting for the complete post-mortem report to confirm the exact cause of the death.
