WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump levelled serious allegations that the Chinese government interfered in the US presidential election and obtained the personal information of voters. Addressing the nation on Thursday, he alleged that the information leak has created a major threat to election security.
Newly released documents show that China has caused the largest election leak in history through years of covert operations since the 2020 election period. Through this, China has secretly obtained the information of 220 million Americans.
China leaked names, addresses, phone numbers, political party affiliations, and other valuable personal information, as well as information for voting and malicious purposes. This has created a major crisis in election security. Trump states that China has set up a special data exploitation unit for this project and that he has information from the intelligence community. He authorized the National Security Director and the FBI to investigate the incident.
Following Trump's accusations, the White House launched a website to release the information. He also made it clear that he would revoke the licenses of news channels that did not broadcast his press meet.
