STOCKHOLM: Canadian writer Anne Carson has won the 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature. The Swedish Academy said Carson was honoured for her bold and innovative works that engage creatively with the classical tradition and create new forms of contemporary literature.
Carson’s works bring together different literary forms, including poetry, dialogue, prose and translation, often crossing the boundaries between them. She is particularly known for her translations of ancient Greek literature, which have had a strong influence on her writing. The 76-year-old writer has been active in poetry and fiction and has worked as a professor of classical studies for more than 30 years.
