TEHRAN: Iranian media released a list purportedly prepared by the Islamic Republic that consists of world leaders targeted in retaliation for the assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The Iranian newspaper 'Hamshahri' published the list, including photos of 13 leaders.
US President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Italian Prime Minister Giorgi Meloni, French President Emmanuel Macron, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz are on the list. They are pictured wearing prison clothes. However, it is not clear whether this list is approved by the Iranian government.
Former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in a US-Israeli airstrike on February 28. His son, Mojtaba Khamenei, who took over as the new Supreme Leader, issued a strong warning in his first response after his father's funeral.
"Even if I’m eliminated, the revenge will be done. Criminals should not dream of a peaceful death in their own beds. We have prepared a list of those who betrayed us,” said Mojtaba Khamenei.
Following this, an Iranian newspaper published a list of the leaders.
