16 years have passed since the premature death of Malayalam actor Cochin Haneefa. The veteran actor-director was an asset to the industry nevertheless and was beloved among fans and actors. Haneefa continues to live in the hearts of the newer generation through his iconic poses and gestures made in movies, which have over time achieved cult status. Haneefa’s family largely stayed away from the limelight after his death. However, after 16 years living in a rented house, there is happy news coming out from Haneefa’s family. His wife and two daughters have now owned a house on Ambedkar Road, Vennala, Kochi.
The family is happy that they were able to build a dream house with Cochin Haneefa's savings.
The house has been named 'Cochin Haneefa's AB Manzil'. Cochin Haneefa carried a dream to someday build a house and name it after his father AB Mohammed. The ceremony was held in the three-storey house, which has five bedrooms and a beautifully decorated interior. Actor Dileep, among many other stars, attended the ceremony.
Haneefa’s wife, Faseela, a resident of Thalassery, ignored her family’s request to return home even after her husband’s death. Haneefa’s twin daughters were aged four at the time of his death. They lived in a rented house in Kadavanthara for 16 years. The family was relieved when the assets of Cochin Haneefa, tangled in legal trouble, were returned to the children when the duo turned 18.
Actor Dileep was a saviour to the family in many ways, ensuring that they received a steady monthly income. Dileep rented Haneefa’s Innova car and used it on film sets on rent. Dileep continued this practice for the past 16 years.
