A Facebook review of Nitesh Tiwari's latest film, Ramayana, by Murali Thummarukudy has sparked discussion. In his post, he singles out actress Shobana for criticism, saying that the accomplished actress, who plays Kaikesi in the film, seems to have the same expression throughout.
He also says that this is the first time he has seen or heard of Sita taking up a sword and fighting in a battle, pointing out that no such chapter appears in Valmiki's Ramayana.

A version of Sita who takes up the Sword
Watched the new Ramayana film.
It is a technological spectacle and is worth watching. It is a film that should be seen on the big screen.
The story is the same old one, so there isn't much to say about it.
There is, however, one twist. This is the first time I have seen or heard of Sita taking up a sword and fighting in a battle. There is no such chapter in Valmiki's Ramayana. But then, there are so many versions of the Ramayana. Apparently, in one such version, the Adbhuta Ramayana, Goddess Sita does take up a sword. That's something new I have learnt.
Beyond the technology, the acting is rather underwhelming. Shobana, a fine actress who plays Kaikesi, seems to have the same expression all the time. It looks as though she acted without eating a banana.
