Ayodhya Ram temple consecration; UP government announces public holiday on January 22

LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government has declared a public holiday on January 22, Pran Pratishtha day of Ayodhya Ram temple. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that 22nd is Ramotsav (festival of Ram) and everyone should celebrate Pratishtha Day like Diwali. The Chief Minister also informed that elaborate celebrations will be held in the state on that day. He said that religious sermons will start from Makarasankranti day and continue till Pratistha day.

The government had earlier declared a holiday on January 22 for all the educational institutions in the state in connection with the Ram temple consecration day. A public holiday has now been announced in the state following this. The government had earlier announced that it would be a dry day in the state and all liquor outlets would be closed on that day.
