NEW DELHI: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke said that the party will go ahead with its protest demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Speaking at a press conference, Dipke said the protest would begin at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park tomorrow, on Gandhi Jayanti.

“We will hold the protest at Shivaji Park itself. It is our right. We do not want to hold the protest at Azad Maidan,” he said.

Dipke said the protest would later be expanded across the country. “We will end the protest only when Gyanesh Kumar resigns. He must resign. He has betrayed the country. He is the number one enemy,” said CJP chief spokesperson Saurav Das.

He added that the party would ensure Gyanesh Kumar’s removal from the post.

Dipke demanded that criminal charges be filed against Gyanesh Kumar and that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process be put on hold. He said that if Gyanesh Kumar does not resign, the protest would be expanded to Goa, Karnataka, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand by the end of October, after the planned protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.
