Derogatory remarks against protests in Delhi: Arrest of T G Mohandas registered, to be produced in court

KOCHI: The arrest of RSS associate T G Mohandas, who made derogatory remarks against students protesting under the leadership of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) in Delhi's Jantar Mantar, has been recorded. The cyber police team from Thiruvananthapuram reached Mattancherry in Kochi and took him into custody on Sunday. Mohandas was brought to Thiruvananthapuram from Kochi. He will be produced in the court at 11 am. It is not clear whether the police will file a custody plea for Mohandas.

A team led by the Thiruvananthapuram City Cyber Crime Wing Police Inspector reached Mohandas' residence at Cheralai in Mattancherry on Sunday at 5 pm. The Mattancherry police were also present. He was taken into custody after checking his laptop and mobile phone. At this time, only his wife was at home. The custody procedures lasted for two and a half hours.

He was taken to Karuvelipady Taluk Hospital for a medical check-up and then taken to Thiruvananthapuram. When the police were leaving the house with Mohandas, Sangh Parivar activists raised slogans, which raised concerns.

The action was on the complaint filed by AIYF State Secretary T T Gismon against Mohandas' anti-women remarks and his statement that students and youth who protested in Delhi should be shot dead. CPI mandalam secretary M K Abdul Jaleel, public activist Harris Abu and others had also filed a complaint with the Mattancherry police.
