India rejects Pakistan's claims on Karachi attack, urges action against terror outfits

NEW DELHI: India has firmly rejected Pakistan's attempts to link it to the recent terrorist attack in Karachi, labelling the accusations as entirely fabricated and baseless. In a sharp counter, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) urged Islamabad to stop shifting the blame and instead focus on dismantling the terror networks operating within its own borders.

The official response came from MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal during a media briefing. Addressing the allegations, Jaiswal stated that New Delhi had noted the reports emanating from Pakistan, which sought to implicate India in the Karachi violence. He categorically dismissed the claims and emphasised that Pakistan needs to take credible, verifiable action against homegrown terror syndicates rather than pointing fingers at other nations.

The diplomatic row follows a major security breach in Pakistan’s southern port city of Karachi on Saturday evening. Heavily armed militants targeted the Bhittai Wing headquarters of the Sindh Rangers in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area. The ensuing gun battle left four security personnel dead, while security forces neutralised six terrorists.

Intelligence reports suggest that the assault was orchestrated by Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, an affiliate of the outlawed umbrella group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The incident marks the most significant security breach in the metropolis since October 2024, when a high-profile suicide bombing near the Karachi airport killed two Chinese engineers, underscoring the volatile security situation in the region.
