NEW DELHI: Pakistan is reportedly preparing for a new experiment in cross-border terrorism. Pakistan's intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), has instructed its agents working secretly in Jammu and Kashmir to join political parties. By acting as members of national parties, the ISI aims to pave the way for recruitment, funding and arms transfer for terrorism.

Pakistan is trying to activate its terror network as part of the democratic process in the country. Recently, during a strong check conducted by the Kashmir police, primary membership cards of various national parties were seized. This was understood to be part of the ISI spies' attempt to bring national parties under their wing. Experts say that this may be done on the assumption that terrorists will get protection from the police and security agencies by joining in this way.

This is not the first time that Pakistan has used this tactic in India. They had tried the same tactic in the 1990s and 2000s. In March 2020, Talib Hussain, a Lashkar commander who was arrested by villagers in Reasi, was an active BJP worker. He was also the social media in-charge of the Minority Morcha in Jammu. Two AK-47 rifles, grenades and other weapons were recovered from him.
