Reply to Annamalai? Rajinikanth's wife with citizens platform 'Makkal Medai' in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: Actor Rajinikanth's wife Latha Rajinikanth is with an unexpected move in the Tamil Nadu politics. She has stepped forward with a citizens platform naming it ‘Makkal Medai'. Former BJP leader K Annamalai had mentioned Rajinikanth's name while announcing his new political organization ‘We the Leaders’. Latha Rajinikanth's new announcement following is being widely discussed.

Latha informed this on social media on Friday. She clarified that all sections of people who want a positive change in society can become part of ‘Makkal Medai’. She also demanded that the services and knowledge of retired and currently serving IAS and IPS officers, teachers, senior citizens and professionals from various fields be used for the development of Tamil Nadu.

‘We should focus on the grassroots activities for the welfare of the people. We should find good leaders locally in each constituency and bring them to the forefront. I want people to work together for the good of Tamil Nadu and our country,’ said Latha Rajinikanth.

Annamalai was a huge fan of Rajinikanth even before his political entry. Annamalai had recently told the media that Rajinikanth used to give him advice like a guru on topics including yoga and politics. He had also revealed that he meets Rajinikanth secretly or in person once or twice every month.

In the initial phase of resigning from his IPS post, Annamalai was eager to join Rajinikanth if he announced his own party. However, when Rajinikanth backed out of that decision, Annamalai joined the BJP.

Ever since the news broke that Annamalai, who left the BJP, would form a new party, discussions have been active in Tamil Nadu politics about whether Rajinikanth would support Annamalai. However, a new statement by his wife Latha Rajinikanth indicates that Rajinikanth is not part of Annamalai's political organization.
