
LUCKNOW: Stones were pelted at the Shatabdi Express in which RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat was travelling from Kanpur to Delhi. The incident happened last night. The windows of the train were broken in the stone pelting. He was sitting in a seat facing the opposite direction to the side where the stones were thrown. Therefore, he escaped unharmed.
The attack on the E-1 coach in which Mohan Bhagwat was travelling happened when the train was passing Makanpur station in Firozabad. The train was then stopped at the nearby Tundla station and security personnel conducted a detailed inspection. The windows of the train were significantly damaged in the stone pelting.
The attack took place during his visit to southern Indian states, including Kerala, as part of the RSS centenary celebrations. The Uttar Pradesh police have launched an investigation into the incident. The police have taken one into custody in connection with the incident. Although stone pelting is common in the area, the police are investigating whether there were other motives behind the attack on the coach in which Mohan Bhagwat was travelling. The person in custody is being questioned in detail.
Mohan Bhagwat will reach Thiruvananthapuram at 4 pm today. He will then visit Mata Amritanandamayi in Amritapuri. The programme will be held in Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur on Saturday and Sunday. He will address an invited audience at the Udaya Palace Convention Center in Thiruvananthapuram on June 13 at 4:30 pm. The event will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Thrissur, Puzhakkal, on June 14 at 4:30 pm. He will leave then leave for Bengaluru from Kochi at 8:30 am on June 15.
