SRINAGAR: Two soldiers were injured in an encounter with militants. They sustained injuries during a search operation for militants in the forested area of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Indian Army in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Police engaged in a confrontation with the militants. Acting on credible intelligence, the security forces cordoned off the Bro and Soom forest regions in the Kalakottu area on Monday. Officials reported that the militants opened fire in an attempt to thwart the efforts of the security forces.

The Kashmir Police informed that the injured soldiers are currently receiving medical treatment in the hospital and their health condition is reported as satisfactory. There are indications that two militants are still present within the area cordoned off by the army. The security forces have also confirmed that all potential escape routes for the militants have been sealed.
