As friends assaulted the 17-year-old—from video footage

KOCHI: A 17-year-old boy was brutally assaulted following a dispute over messages sent from his Instagram account. The incident took place in Elamakkara, Ernakulam, a few days ago. The boy was allegedly assaulted by his minor friends along with the mother of one of them. The 40-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the incident.

The boy's friends had sent messages to some women from his Instagram account. This led to a dispute between them. Subsequently, the friends called the 17-year-old to a house and brutally assaulted him. They also recorded the assault. The 40-year-old woman also beat the boy during the attack. The video also captures a woman repeatedly saying, "Enough, enough."

Despite being subjected to a brutal assault, the boy did not inform his family about the incident. His family came to know about it only after he began passing blood in his urine. They subsequently lodged a complaint with the police. The 17-year-old, who received medical treatment, is currently reported to be in stable condition.

Both the accused and the victim had studied at the same school in Elamakkara until Class 10. Hostility had existed between them since that time. Their animosity reportedly intensified through Instagram chats after they completed Class 10. Police said this was also one of the reasons why the boy was called to the house and attacked.
