PALAKKAD: A man from Gujarat was arrested with 216 credit cards during an Excise inspection at the Walayar checkpost as part of Operation Thunder.
The accused, Odethara Ravi Bhima, a native of Porbandar, was arrested from a YAS Tour and Travels bus travelling from Hyderabad to Ernakulam. A preliminary inspection found that all the credit cards recovered from him were issued in the names of different individuals. Authorities suspect that a large financial fraud gang with international links may be behind the operation.
The accused and the seized credit cards were handed over to the Walayar police for further investigation. The inspection was conducted under the leadership of Walayar Excise Circle Inspector T.R. Mukesh Kumar. Excise Inspector Happimon, Assistant Excise Inspector Devakumar, Grade Preventive Officer Sajeev and Civil Excise Officer Vipin also took part in the operation.
