Gold of 23 sovereigns stolen from house in Kottayam

KOTTAYAM: Gold of 23 sovereigns has been stolen from a house at Poovathilappu in Kottayam. The theft happened at the house of Abraham in Poovathilappu.

Abraham had gone to the hospital, while his children had gone to the airport to drop off a family friend. Police suspect that the burglars broke open the door of the house and entered during this time.

A total of 23 sovereigns of gold jewellery, including chains, bangles, anklets and earrings, was stolen. Two other necklaces in another room were initially believed to be missing, but Abraham later said they were found inside a bottle in the house.

The Pallikkathodu police have registered a case and launched an investigation. Police suspect that someone familiar with the house and its surroundings may be behind the theft. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being collected and examined. No clues about the suspects have been found so far. Police said the investigation is progressing.
