Murder during rape attempt? Elderly woman dumped in well with stone tied around neck

GURUVAYUR: A body of a 75-year-old elderly woman was found dumped in a well with a stone tied around her neck. The three-day-old body of the woman of Chelakkara was found in a well in an abandoned field near the Karanamkotte railway track. Suresh (55) of Perumbavoor, and his accomplice were arrested in connection with the incident.

The woman was staying with her son in Kollam. She reached Thrissur for pension-related reasons. She planned to stay in Guruvayur for two days. In the meantime, she met Suresh and he promised to arrange stay for her and took her to a rented house. A verbal dispute broke out between the two and in a fit of rage, Suresh assaulted her.

The woman fell unconscious and thinking that she had lost her life, Suresh with the help of his friend dumped the body into a well after tying a stone around her neck. He revealed about the murder to others while consuming liquor. The police somehow got the information about the murder. The body was found at 11 pm in a search conducted. The body was taken out and shifted to Thrissur Medical College for postmortem. The police suspect that the murder was committed during a rape attempt.
