Woman gang-raped at resort, video sent to friend; government official among two arrested

IDUKKI: Two people, including a government official, have been arrested following a complaint that a woman was allegedly gang-raped at a private resort in Kuttikkanam, Idukki. According to the complaint, the accused recorded the alleged assault on their phones and later sent the footage to another friend.

The arrested persons have been identified as Geo Sebastian, an Industrial Extension Officer in Kottayam and a native of Erumeli, and Suresh Kumar, a native of Thiruvananthapuram. The woman lodged the complaint after learning that the accused had recorded the alleged assault and shared the footage with another person.

Police said Geo Sebastian had allegedly been involved in sexual perversions. During a search conducted at his house, police said they found obscene videos and other material. Police said they would seek custody of the accused and question them in detail as part of the investigation.
