KOZHIKODE: The court has left the two teachers arrested in the Vadakara MDMA case, into police custody. The accused, Kavya and Neeshma, were handed over to the Vadakara NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Court for two days of police custody.
The police had sought three days’ custody to question the accused in detail. The court ordered to leave the two in police custody until 4 pm on Friday. The police approached the court seeking permission to question the two together.
Meantime, while being produced before the court, accused Kavya told the media that she was innocent. She was responding to a question on whether she was the main link in the drug case. Kavya said she had done nothing wrong and had been framed.
She also told the media not to believe the statements of Keerthana, another accused in the case and claimed that what she says is not true. However, the police stopped Kavya from making further comments and took her away.
Three female teachers, including Kavya, and two men have been arrested in the case. The three specialist teachers of Perambra BRC were terminated after being named as accused in the case.
The teachers handed over the money earned through the sale of drugs to Jijil Kuriyakose, an online delivery agent from Iritty, who was also arrested in the case. Shinto Shibu (22), suspected to be a key link in the case and an accused in several other drug-related cases, has not yet been arrested. Shinto operated the drug trade in an organised manner via WhatsApp messages.
