KOCHI: A court has directed the police to register a case against actor Tini Tom based on a complaint filed by actor Ansiba Hasan. The Ernakulam District Sessions Court ordered the police to register a case over alleged communal remarks. The court also directed authorities to investigate allegations, including those related to insulting the dignity of a woman.

Earlier, Kadavanthra police had taken the stand that there was no evidence to register a case based on Ansiba’s complaint. The court’s intervention came after Ansiba filed a petition challenging the police decision.

In her complaint, Ansiba said that she had resigned from the executive committee of the actors’ organisation AMMA due to alleged mental harassment by Tini Tom. She alleged that Tini Tom called her a “Jihadi”, accused her of religious conversion, and made personal remarks against her. Ansiba also stated that she received the information from another actor, Neena Kurup.

However, Kadavanthra police submitted a report to the ACP, stating that there was no substance in the complaint and that a case could not be registered based only on hearsay. Tini Tom and former AMMA office-bearers Shwetha Menon and Lakshmypriya denied the allegations in their statements. Following this, Ansiba approached the court.
