KANNUR: Bail has been granted to Arjun Ayanki, an accused in several cases. He has been granted bail in the case registered by Kannur cyber police. However, since he is an accused in a KAAPA case, he will have to remain in jail.

The police have initiated steps to place Arjun Ayanki under preventive detention at Kannur Central Jail. An application seeking his transfer from Thalassery Sub Jail to Kannur Central Jail will be submitted to the court today. Arjun will also be served with a KAAPA notice today. The KAAPA (Kerala Anti-Social Activities Prevention Act) was invoked against him the oother day.

The collector approved the recommendation of the Kannur City Police Commissioner to invoke KAAPA against Arjun. The action was taken on the grounds that Arjun is a person who is repeatedly involved in criminal activities and that there is a possibility of him engaging in further offences. The court has ordered that he be placed under preventive detention after KAAPA was invoked.
