KOZHIKODE: The CPM has begun corrective measures following its defeat in the Assembly elections, carrying out a major reshuffle of its state secretariat. The changes were announced at the party’s extended state committee meeting on Tuesday. Senior leaders P Jayarajan, V Sivankutty and MB Rajesh have been inducted into the state secretariat as part of the reorganisation. TP Ramakrishnan and Thomas Isaac have been dropped from the secretariat.

The reshuffle is aimed at bringing more leaders with a strong public connect into the party’s top leadership, according to party sources. The state committee has also been reorganised, with nine new members inducted. OS Ambika, M Vijin, Jaick C Thomas and PS Sanjeev are among those included in the committee.

Meanwhile, state secretary MV Govindan has reportedly been reprimanded by the party. The action is linked to issues that came up during discussions following the election defeat. There are also indications that Thomas Isaac was removed from the state secretariat following his public remarks against the party leadership.
