KOCHI: The customs will question actor Dulquer Salmaan again in the Bhutan car smuggling case. There is information that the actor has more vehicles in his name. The customs want to know where these vehicles are. Searches will be conducted in many places including Chennai. There is a possibility of questioning more car owners in the case.
Dulquer was questioned yesterday for nearly seven hours at the customs office in Kochi. Dulquer told the officials that he was not aware that the car was smuggled to the country. However, they have not believed this statement. The customs have so far seized four of the actor’s cars in the case. The action was based on the findings that the vehicles smuggled through the Bhutan border were sold to Dulquer.
The largest vehicle smuggling case related to Bhutan that has come to light in recent times was uncovered during the 'Operation Numkhor' inspection conducted by customs. The search was initiated based on information that vehicles abandoned by the Bhutanese army and other vehicles were brought to India and sold at a high price. Vehicles smuggled from Bhutan, including those belonging to film stars, were found and seized and brought to Kerala for use.
Around forty vehicles have been seized so far from various parts of the state. Customs estimates that around 200 vehicles may have been brought to Kerala. The customs had sought the help of those including the motor vehicles department to trace the remaining.
