KOZHIKODE: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is conducting another raid in the monthly payoff case involving opposition leader Pinarayi Vijayan's daughter Veena. The searches are being conducted at eight places including Kozhikode. This is the third time ED is conducting extensive raids in the case.
Reports say the final round of searches is being conducted before charging the accused in the case. Four teams are conducting searches in Kozhikode itself. Homes and institutions are being searched. It is reported that a raid is also being conducted at a company in which Veena has investments. This is a company called Laker India Corp, headquartered in Kozhikode. Reports say the ED team has visited the homes and institutions of people associated with the company. A raid is also being conducted at the house of Nandulal, friend of former minister and Veena Vijayan's husband, Mohammed Riyas.
The ED had frozen Veena's investments worth Rs 16.5 lakh which is in her own name and in the names of companies. Laker India's Rs 15.5 lakh is also included. Veena had Rs 1.37 lakh in her account and Rs 27,585 in Exalogic's account. Veena is the sixth accused in the case.
