Elderly woman electrocuted by microphone during Ramayana recital in Thiruvananthapuram

KOVALAM: An elderly woman was electrocuted to death while reciting Ramayana in Thiruvallam on Sunday. Krishnamma (68), wife of the late Krishnankutty, native of Pallichal Naruvamoodu near Marthandeswaram LP School, died in the incident. It is suspected that Krishnamma was electrocuted from the microphone during the recital.

The incident took place around 1.30 pm on Sunday. Krishnamma had come to recite the Ramayana at Parasurama Seva Samiti on Lanka Road near the Parasuramaswami temple in Thiruvallam.

A plumbing worker nearby saw Krishnamma collapsing to the floor. Although she was taken to the general hospital, her life could not be saved.

KSEB officials and Thiruvallam police conducted a detailed inspection at the spot. The amplifier attached to the microphone was found hot. The police said that the cause of death will be clear only after the postmortem.
